Events

Our annual programme is our most important platform for promoting women’s leadership and for enriching each other’s lives by sharing knowledge, ideas and intellectual capital. Our programme is the key to providing and maintaining our sense of community.

The programme includes: member breakfasts; behind-the-scenes tours; special briefings; member dine-arounds; special interest groups and our annual events: Annual General Meeting; Jean Denton Lecture; Summer Reception and Christmas Breakfast.

In addition, we look to promote the international agenda and benefits of membership of IWF through participation in the IWF programme, including two major events in the year, one in North America and one elsewhere in the world.

THIS EVENT IS NOW FULL! IWF UK Theatre event: Girl from the North Country at the Old Vic

We are delighted to announce that we have secured a small group of tickets, best seats in the house, for the new production at The Old Vic, ‘Girl from the North Country’ on Thursday 28 September.  This is already the show everyone's talking about, having opened to fantastic 5* reviews last week! See the links below, and we are delighted to be returning to The Old Vic for another IWF UK special event.

Join us for a pre-show Old Vic Voices Off panel discussion on 'Can lyrics be literature?’ (speakers to be announced) at 6.00pm, followed by drinks and seats in the stalls for the 7.30pm performance.
This is a new play written and directed by the award-winning Conor McPherson who beautifully weaves the iconic songbook of Bob Dylan into this new show full of hope, heartbreak and soul, featuring a 20-strong company of actors and musicians. The Dylan team approached Conor McPherson to write the play and it is simply a ‘must’ for Dylan fans!

About the play:

Duluth, Minnesota. 1934.
A community living on a knife-edge huddle together in the local guesthouse. The owner, Nick, owes more money than he can ever repay, his wife Elizabeth is losing her mind and their daughter Marianne is carrying a child no-one will account for.
And, when a preacher selling bibles and a boxer looking for a comeback show up in the middle of the night, things start to spiral beyond the point of no return…

Guests are very welcome, and as there are only a limited number of tickets, we will need bookings and payments to be made by the end of August (Fri 25 August 2017)

The Guardian ★★★★★ – ‘A remarkable fusion of text and music’
The Evening Standard ★★★★★ – ‘beguiling and soulful, and quietly, exquisitely, heart-breaking’
The Times ★★★★★ – ‘an instant American classic: a tale of heartbreak and hardscrabble’

Cost: £80 members, £85 guests, includes the pre-show talk, a glass of wine and stalls seats.

LAST DATE FOR CANCELLATIONS: MON 18 SEPT 2017
