Ali has been a qualified chartered accountant for over 25 years. She was one of the first Scots to develop a specialism in international taxation to support a rapidly expanding offshore oil engineering industry in the 1990’s in the North Sea. Most recently Ali has been heavily involved in leading tax thinking in the digital economy and has consulted on international tax reform, transparency and reporting. She is an active coach and mentor with particular interest in ethical, collaborative and inclusive leadership. This interest extends to lobbying for this type of leadership in Westminster. Outside of work, Ali lives in London, has four children, is a fervent supporter of the parkrun organisation and is a keen marathon runner.
